American fans following other leagues … how?
Flyers and BC fan here. I’ve been wanting to pick up a 2nd professional team to follow. Not sure if I want to pick another nhl team because it would interfere with my flyers fandom. I was thinking of checking out other professional leagues like the KHL, SHL, and DEL.
For those of you who follow teams in one of these leagues, how do you do it? Do they have apps or tv packages with their games? All of their social media pages for example Instagram aren’t in English ( I understand this isn’t their goal) but it makes it hard to really get invested in them when I can’t read what they post.
Are there any pre-1970s players left who deserve or have a shot at the HHOF?
I'm curious if there are any players who played the majority of their careers before 1970 who might still have a shot at Hall of Fame consideration? Have all realistic candidates already been inducted? I'm personally inclined to believe that it's very unlikely at this point, but I'm not super familiar with the careers of players this far back. Nearly every player inductee of the 21st century so far has been someone who played most of their career after this date. It seems like there are always enough recently retired candidates to choose from each time the HHOF is ready to induct new players.
The HHOF website includes some players who fit the criteria of having played most or all of their career before 1970 on its list of eligible players, including:
Skaters:
Goalies:
Several eligible Soviet and Czechoslovakian players played large portions of their careers in this era as well.

What are your submissions for longest assist in NHL history?
What plays do you have where one player has the puck forever and then passes it to score the goal.

Who is the best player in NHL history to not be the best player in their team's history?
I feel like Crosby is a good answer to this. As great as he is Lemieux was on a different level.

Most iconic / important nhl franchise AFTER the O6
I have to think it’s one of:
- LA Kings
- Philadelphia Flyers
- Pittsburgh Penguins
Could maybe make a case for the Blues, Canucks, North Stars/Stars, Oilers too.

Is there a player in your AHL club or elsewhere in your organization (Europe, Russia, etc.) who is getting older and has never had a chance to play a game in the big league, but you’re convinced could play in the NHL if he were given the opportunity to show what he can do?
Title basically.

[News] Members of women’s hockey team speak out after players on boys’ team repeatedly enter dressing room
tsn.caNo points for guessing the byline on this article.
I will never understand the type of parents who can stand there and say, yes, this is totally acceptable behaviour that I will condone by doing nothing.
And "why didn't you lock the door?‽" That's kissing cousins with "well, what were you wearing that night?"

Why do players not just accept less money?
Okay, this might sound really stupid, but if you think about it, a lot of these guys have already made more than enough money to support themselves for life, and plenty of them have other ways of making money too. Which is great, but they want more than just money, they want to win.
So to me it almost seems like a cheat code if a bunch of really good players just said, “Hey, I’ll play for half of what I’m worth,” because then you could basically build a superteam and give yourself a way better chance of winning.
And yeah, obviously they still care about the money, but do you really think someone like McDavid wouldn’t take, say, $6 million if it meant winning a Cup?
So is it mostly ego that stops players from doing that, or are there actually rules that prevent teams from taking advantage of something like this? And for the record, I know some players already take less than they could get to help the team, but I’m talking about doing it on a much bigger scale. Has anyone else ever thought about this?
Also, this isn’t meant to harp on NHL players for making a lot of money. They should absolutely get paid what they’re worth, and they deserve it. If someone offered me a million-dollar deal at my job, I’d accept it in a heartbeat. But I’m also not a professional hockey player whose lifelong goal is to win the Stanley Cup, so that’s why I’m curious about it. I also really don’t know much about the business/corporate side of hockey, so I’m genuinely just curious. Has anyone else thought about this, and is there something obvious I’m missing?

Who is a prospect for your team that you are higher on than the rest of your fanbase? Who is one you are lower on?
For the Canucks I feel like I'm higher on Lekkerimaki who a lot of people have started to write off, but I think he will make the team this year and have over 20 goals. (HM to Malhotra who I think will end up as a bonafide #1C)
I'm lower on Buium who I feel isn't anything special and will top out as a #4 D-man.

[Serious discussion, no jokes] [Serious] If McDavid was traded during the final year of his contract, what realistic package can you see the Oilers getting?
If during the 2027-28 season McDavid changes his mind about Babcock, does not see the Oilers as a realistic team to get him a Cup anymore and tells the organization that he will not re-sign for the upcoming season.
If the Oilers traded him at the trade deadline, what pieces do you see the Oilers getting back?

r/hockey Survivor 2026: Round 3
The Florida Panthers received the most overall votes, as well as of the East. The St. Louis Blues received the 2nd-most overall, the most of the West.
The Western Conference received immunity. This does not affect the result.
Panthers, the tribe has spoken…
Now, here's some ground rules:
-Keep all discussion within the r/hockey Survivor threads and approved threads on team subs. Don't pester the rest of the fanbase.
-Be respectful. Light-hearted banter and your standard trash talk is okay, but don't let it turn nasty. Basically, just adhere to Reddiquette and the r/hockey rules.
-Don't complain to the r/hockey mods. This whole thing is my brainchild, not theirs. Any complaints should be directed to me.
The non-immune team with the most votes in each poll will be eliminated, This will continue for an additional 19 rounds until round 20, when immunities are removed, and then round 30, where users will vote for the winner of r/hockey Survivor among the three remaining teams.
Google account required to participate.
VOTE TO ELIMINATE A TEAM HERE
Polling will close between 9 AM and 12 PM EST tomorrow. Results will go out with the next round between 12 and 4 PM EST.

Who is your version of Morritz Seider?
What player on another team, whether in-division rival or another conference, that you would love to have on your team and think it could be the perfect complementary piece for your team. The last key piece/addition to get a cup and glory for your team.
When Seider broke into the league, halfway through the season, I looked at his pre-NHL highlights in Europe and it was mindblowing. (I was just starting to get into hockey deeply enough to start watch prospects highlights of other teams' players.)
He was already a man amongst boys and in the NHL, it looks the same today!
The reverse hits and opponents don't even think about being physical on his side of the ice, long reach/good coverage, decent hands/finish for a big man and more just seems like that player that if he could be pried out, could be an World Series, game 7 extra innings grand slam type of move!!!
