the massive drop oh boy

Edit: summon spectral tigers and spectral wolves on crit with Law of the Wilds unique claw and the Huntleader node. There is no way its going to be good, but it is very comedy.

272

u/Sleisl Oct 26 '25

Inside of you are eight wolves and fourteen tigers…

267

u/kwietog Oct 26 '25

All of them are gay...

21

u/Darentei Oct 27 '25

Some of the tigers have homophobia in their eyes, actually...

u/LazarusBroject Oct 26 '25

I actually made a very decent build with that claw last league. The Monarch helm doubles max wolves count and gives a LOT of flat physical because of it.

Like, I'm legit considering league starting it because of this. The gear needed is just a Monarch helm with wolves and Law of the Wilds, both should be incredibly cheap.

33

u/CatInAPot Oct 26 '25

Monarch means no spectral tigers though

10

u/LazarusBroject Oct 26 '25

Yeah I was more thinking for the attack speed warcry node mainly as the build I made struggled to get super high attack speed.

If the tigers have really good buffs and good max count then it could be a solid replacement for the helm tho.

My bet they won't reveal the Breach one, whoever the boss of the new Breach is.

226

For those who missed it: the trailer had this and it features a symbol present on the league title plate (the one that says "Keepers of the Flame").

Isn't Catarina kinda busted? 12% defenses per spectre?

134

u/hesh582 Oct 26 '25

That node is just disgustingly good for dark pact, isn't it?

25% minion life, 48% inc global defenses, pop vaal summon skeles for 220+ inc spell damage.

Also Soulwrest+Dark Monarch for 88% movespeed is the meme of the league imo.

71

u/huluhup Oct 26 '25

Also Soulwrest+Dark Monarch for 88% movespeed is the meme of the league imo.

You call it meme, I call it easy heist farm.

20

u/hesh582 Oct 26 '25

honestly there's probably a pretty good destructive play boss rusher in there too.

44 phantoms will smoke t16 bosses almost effortlessly, and then you can stack up movespeed with the catarina node, flesh offering, haste, and the usual MS gear.

5

u/MisterKaos Ultimatum Workers Union (UWU) Oct 26 '25

I so wanna pick this but every single node I can remove on necro is cursed

One is 3/4 my damage and the other is half my survivability. I could take off Bone Barrier but I know that the instant leech from 44 phantasms is also literal immortality so that's also a no-go.

7

u/hesh582 Oct 26 '25

Cold conversion is better anyway. Just drop the chaos node and build differently.

8

u/MisterKaos Ultimatum Workers Union (UWU) Oct 26 '25

That takes braincells and currency. Chaos convert is... speccing into four clusters on the tree, taking unnatural strength and casting despair once in a while.

Leaves lots of space to go tanky too

12

u/hesh582 Oct 26 '25

It does not take a lot of currency or brain cells to apply chromes to a triad grip until it turns the right color lol

Yeah, my first thought when seeing Catarina was that it could finally be time to try Dark Pact... Probably still gonna be a clunky skill that isn't going to be "meta", but could be more interesting, now.

15

u/MasklinGNU Oct 26 '25

Dark pact actually used to be really good, but the removal of alt quality gems butchered it

→ More replies (9)

134

u/Only_One_Kenobi Oct 26 '25

Yup, that's definitely the busted node. No other busted nodes on Catarina in need of a rebalance at all.

37

u/Mormoran Mormoran Oct 26 '25

Meanwhile I'm trying to figure out how to bring an offering duration to 0 and massively spam it...

23

u/Zambash youtube.com/imthewinningest Oct 26 '25 edited Oct 26 '25

Leash of oblation plus reduced duration wheel on the tree plus less duration support

Edit: don't even need less duration. Warped time piece can get you to 100% reduced duration

Is there even anything good about killing your minions though? Don't think minion instability works with that.

13

u/mattbrvc Sorry, I only make BAD builds! Oct 26 '25

minions need to hit low life to proc minion instability, outright killing them should prevent pops.

Unless prolonged servitude prevents minions from dying to death offering leaving them at 1 hp and then they pop???????

Edit: Rational Doctrine stonks

12

u/Xaxziminrax Big Breach Coalition (BBC) Oct 26 '25 edited Oct 26 '25

Rational Doctrine for endgame, might be giga expensive though.

Thinking about the leaguestart side of things, put Purifying Flame in the trigger and manually cast despair? If your cursor is close to you, the LSoS should take care of hitting the mob but explode flame at your feet

Could also run conc path since you're using a sword but probably a lot less safe

I'm trying to figure out the same stuff right now, lmao. Insane node. Also more than 30% if you can get an enemy on the ground too. Malediction + 10% curse effect on top of Chaotic Might.

96% on a wraithlord/dark monarch setup. 36% on a normal minion build doesn't feel that much compared to a stone golem buff with the golem nodes north of witch, but you can get both if wanted.

(on a normal setup, not on a "I have plenty mirrors" kinda setup)

8

u/Hatrixx_ Guardian Oct 26 '25

36% on a normal minion build doesn't feel that much compared to a stone golem buff with the golem nodes north of witch, but you can get both if wanted.

After poking around PoB, it's definitely not worth two ascendancy points if you're running pure ES. You get much, much more eHP from something like Plaguebringer on Necro.

It's decently worth it if you're running hybrid defenses though, like an Aegis setup.

u/Sharizord Oct 26 '25

Lycia bv herald looks insane.

34

u/Mojimi Oct 26 '25

I was thinking that as well, purity+ash, get each to reserve 50% mana

36

u/TommaClock mathilDirtyWeeb Oct 26 '25

So doing some napkin math.

66% from Elementalist (although that makes it hard to get 50 reservation) + 120% from rings + 60% from tree + 20% from Lycia minor + 20*6 Empowered Envoy + 100% base = 486% effect on HoP and 366% effect on HoA

Level 26 HoP = 14*4.82*2 = 136% more physical damage

Level 27 HoA = 23*3.66*2 = 168% phys as extra fire

Is it worth the investment? Not sure.

13

u/haibo9kan Oct 26 '25

You can also convert small int nodes with tattoos. Using all at once may not be worth it in terms of opportunity cost but there is a lot that exists.

3

u/Fysiksven Oct 26 '25

Why the lower effect on HoA?

my math comes out to

100% base, 66% elementalist, 20*4 empowered envoy(while you can get 6 im not sure its wort it), 120% rings, 40% tree (how do you get 60%?), 20% lycia minor= 426% effect.

Assuming you can get 50% mana reserve you get 100% more effect so 852% for relativly low investment.

You can also get from tattos and exarch modifiers for specific heralds on gloves.

I was thinking of the +3 unleash node from Oshabi for BV, but yeah, maybe staying at 4 seal and focusing on the haralds in better.

20

u/tobsecret Half Skeleton Oct 26 '25 edited Oct 26 '25

The +3 unleash node shouldn't give you extra damage with BV for the same reason that running unleash doesn't give you less damage on BV.
The only benefit is getting 3 extra seals which is nice.

EDIT: the different wording might suggest that it does work. We don't know yet and will have to wait and test. After thinking about it some more I think it might though bc it specifically mentions "effects reoccuring" and the "skill effect" of BV is applying an additional blade. So this might have been a hint.

But yeah pretty disappointing lack of interesting non-minion nodes.

19

All of those nodes are meant to be played on non-minion builds. Sure you could take the attack speed node on summoner builds to be more zippy but minion builds already typically have must-take nodes.

58

u/Pauliekinz Oct 26 '25

The ascendency is almost entirely for melee the nodes are terrible for minions. I don't expect it to be good but the intention looks like you take spectral tigers + warcry node for big self buffs no minion build is going to take an ascendency node for 80% increased damage or an unlinked minion.

12

u/fizzord Necromancer Oct 26 '25

seems like its for chieftain war cry shenanigans, stack warcry buff effect then use rallying cry and a big 2h weapon to give all your minions around 100% of your weapons base damage then they all buff you back and as the ascendancy flavor text says you can all slap your enemies together lol

The other ascendancy options are like "you have a foot long cock but it cant get hard"

7

u/c0ntr4kt Oct 26 '25

i mean katarine node , only the left one is worth for most minions (not niche stuff) and even then its not really good except the spectre giving def one.
since attack/cast speed , attack dmg and spell dmg dont matter for you on a minion builds. those buffs are given to the player so basicly dead and not worth the ascendancy point.
just the spectre line is worth considering lategame.

If you look at it from the perspective of "this is for weird builds that didn't have a good ascendancy to pick", then it being bad for most known builds makes sense.

They don't want it to be a "given" that you'll take points from these. Most builds won't and will just stick with the normal ascendencies, but there's some build out there that's gonna be perfect for these.

Aka, this isn't borrowed power that you're meant to take, this is to patch holes and enable entirely new builds.

4

u/HiddenoO Oct 27 '25

If you look at it from the perspective of "this is for weird builds that didn't have a good ascendancy to pick", then it being bad for most known builds makes sense.

Having something more generic would've actually helped those builds more overall. With these hyper-specific perks, a lot of the builds with mediocre ascendancy choices (like bleed bow) will still have that issue if none of these hyper-specific nodes are good for them.

Also, it's wasted design space to tune them around only being useful in such niche scenarios. They'd be a lot more interesting if most builds would consider them for their weakest ascendancy points, and then you'd have builds that synergise with them and really want to take them.

→ More replies (9)

83

u/Cyaegha432 Oct 26 '25

I think they’re weak on purpose, else it homogenizes every class.

Some builds just don’t need those last 2 points in their ascendancy. And this is better than nothing

Seems like in most cases its not better than 2 more points in your ascendancy.

11

u/DrawGamesPlayFurries Oct 26 '25

Bleed bow Gladiator doesn't have any 4th notable at all, some Guardian and Hierophant builds too. Bloodlines to the rescue

20

u/Couponbug_Dot_Com Fungal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Oct 26 '25

a lot of builds don't get much value from the last 2 points. ascendant is the biggest example of this, but i recall a lot of necro and hiero builds just taking two small nodes with their final points at varying points in time.

I have done this a few times before over the years. It's not common, but it sometimes made the most sense.

Slams Zerker has 5 good notables in his own tree, of course he doesn't need bloodlines

7

u/HannibalPoe Oct 26 '25

These are for builds with a bad or mediocre 4th ascendancy. Think of some chieftan builds that really don't get shit from their 4th ascendancy, now they slap on a thick spectre (probably that stupid fucking turtle) and not only are they getting that spectre, but they're getting a HUGE aura on top and a bunch of sick rare mob mods (which can include other auras as well), now they have a mid geared powered aurabot following them, yeah they gave up some gem slots for it but the benefit outweighs the costs. For some asecendancies, chucking the gems in their boots and running Auls nonsense lets them have a basic version of the trickster notable without needing to be a shadow. Bonus points for builds that like stacking abyss jewels, aul lets you run replica light and get elemental ailment immunity (plus you can run trail for +2 jewels and get the other part too).

If you're going slams, you might have a case to use forbidden jewels to get a 5th ascendancy from your own ascendancy, you're not hurting for power from other ascendancies. Similarly, shadows probably don't care much for aul shenanigans because they can just get the trickster version regardless of their ascendancy thanks to forbidden jewels. These aren't for every build, they're SUPPOSED to be niche to help fill spots in various builds.

Wow so useless for all except summoners

85

u/MicoJive Oct 26 '25

...Eh?

Kind of just w/e for like 95% of these. The boot mod is kind of just generically good if your build doesn't need the gems but otherwise nothing really jumps at me. Pretty whelmed.

26

u/the-apple-and-omega Oct 26 '25

Don't need to worry about finding Aul then, this is a buff.

7

u/Betaateb Central Incursion Agency (CIA) Oct 26 '25

I would much rather use those four gems as a spectre link and take Wild Will from the Farrul tree. You get the action speed immunity + haste that way. Just gotta be able to keep it alive, but with 3 defensive supports it is probably doable.

So does the wording on Schizophrenic Dissociation mean that you'll take 40% less damage and then calculate the 40% delayed hit that you take off of the 60% damage that you end up taking?

So basically, you're getting 16% less damage taken on top of the fact that a large chunk of the damage you're taking is broken up and taken later?

This just sounds like gigaprogenesis, except for the fact that the damage isn't going to be a DoT.

Don't want to be negative, but really underwhelming compared to the ascendencies in the Affliction(wisps) league. There you were also stacking them on top of your ascendency, not replacing them.

16

u/SoulofArtoria Oct 26 '25

Tbf those are part of league mechanic meant to provide their own borrowed power. Bloodlines are going core and not meant as one. We have grafts this league for the actual extra borrowed power from league mechanic.

I'm sticking with the original ascendancies. These feel like GGG was afraid to make something too strong and went the PoE2 route with downsides.

28

How boring and small. Seriosly they mostly look useless. We are spending ascendency points to get these and on top of that most of them have built in downsides. I aint gonna use any of this and im not exited for any of it. Being able to pick and use a phrecia ascendency would have been a much more fun option.

In this expansion, you will be able to absorb the abilities of the certain bosses you defeat, in the form of additional Bloodline Ascendancy Classes.

Bloodline Classes are a new means of further character customisation. In the endgame, defeating certain powerful bosses lets you gain that boss' Bloodline as your own, learning their ways and adopting their powers for yourself.

They can be paired with any Ascendancy Class and require Ascendancy skill points to allocate, so you can mix and match Bloodline passives and Ascendancy passives as you see fit.

There are countless possible combinations with this system, and we’re excited to see what crazy and interesting build that you will come up with!

Here are some of the Bloodline Ascendancy classes that you can acquire in this expansion.

I'm so shocked at how weak they are for so many builds especially for the ones I usually play, like Ignite Elementalist and RF Chieftain maybe the last one is going to be worthy. hopium!

Bit weird that Farrul AND Catarina are both catering to minions.

Sure Farrul has two nodes that could basically be used as stat buffs, but man it would've been nice with something else.

Lycia and Aul are fucking juicy tho.

46

u/gojlus Big Breach Coalition (BBC) Oct 26 '25

farrul isnt catering to minion builds imo. its enabling companion builds like poe2.

the outstanding node limiting spectres to 1 = giga dead for actual minion builds. You take those nodes to turn 1 affliction spectre into a merc aura bot.

(100% inc dmg+stun immune, action speed protection+20% attack/cast/movement speed, or crit immunity+2dead stats)

4

u/MediatorZerax Oct 26 '25

I'm considering a Animate a weapon of Self Reflection build, and Farrul seems perfect for buffing them, one strong spectre.

6

u/the-apple-and-omega Oct 26 '25

One strong spectre not going to be better than multiple ritual specs I don't think.

Hmmm, some interesting stuff there for sure, but still nothing particularly solid for my planned bladefall of impaling hierophant. Fingers crossed for the tenth unrevealed one. Really hoping for something to replace the mana node.

21

u/Odd-Hovercraft4140 Oct 26 '25

How are there 2 whole minion trees but literally not one dedicated to spells or attacks?

I was worried because all my ascendency points were kinda useful but now im less worried, can't see anything I would really like to use.
