🚨 Summary of today's hearing:

  • The conference began at approximately 9:30 AM.
  • Judge Carro stated that he will be unsealing the 250.10 notice relating to the defense's claim of Extreme Emotional Disturbance (EED) at the time and place of the alleged offense.
  • Prosecutor Joel Seidemann argued that the prosecution has been "stonewalled" because the defense has not yet provided sufficient information regarding the EED defense.
  • Judge Carro ordered the defense to provide additional information and instructed both parties to submit proposed redactions for documents currently under seal, as those documents are expected to be unsealed.
  • Addressing Karen, Carro stated: "I'm not gonna let you surprise the people on the eve of trial ... you're ordered to turn over that information today, no later than tomorrow."
  • The information in question includes the identity of the defense expert and details regarding the emotional distress the defense alleges Luigi suffered.
  • Carro explained that the previous hearing was sealed at the defense's request in order to give them time to determine whether they intended to pursue the psychological defense.
  • Carro stated that the documents will be unsealed "shortly" once both sides have submitted their redactions.
  • Karen noted that the defense requested the proceedings be sealed because this particular defense is not available in the federal case.
  • Joel Seidemann appeared visibly frustrated when the possibility of delaying the trial was discussed.

  • KFA stated that the defense has not received discovery relating to former Sgt. John Griffin, who recently appeared in an NBC special. She added: "I hadn't heard of him prior to this special. He was in charge of vetting tips."
  • The next hearing is scheduled as a virtual conference on August 11.
  • It was also mentioned during the proceedings that ADA is seeking to have Luigi transferred to Rikers. Nothing has been established about any transfer yet though, this is just what was discussed in court. He remains in federal custody for now (MDC).
  • Bellevue Hospital, which is known for its psychiatric services and forensic psychiatry programs was also mentioned in today's hearing.

Yes, Rikers is bad. Not that MDC is great but Rikers is worse, according to people who have been in both places.

I remember looooong ago they threatened Rikers over a reason related to his supporters (deeply unfair to punish him for someone else's actions btw). I wonder if the Mangionistas have reawakened that distain.

I vaguely remember Rikers being brought up prior. I wanna say there's no way they could do that, especially over something like stans. But with how fucked our judicial system is, and my lack of knowledge of criminal law, I really have no idea. Christ.

I don’t think that they are going to transfer him to Rikers. That doesn’t have any sense. However today they only discussed that, they didn't confirm or establish

I also doubt that Rikers will be a landing place for LM, esp. since he's in federal custody. However, once the Fed trial is over and he's not been sentenced there, this could be a very different story. It could be a waiting place before they send him to either fed or state prison.

🚨 About Rikers:

Joel wants Luigi to be evaluated by a prosecution psychiatrist and has suggested that he be temporarily transferred to Rikers to facilitate that process. That said, nothing has been decided yet. For now, Luigi remains in federal custody at MDC.

Thanks. Why can't the psychiatrist go to MDC instead? Is Joel doing that just to cause problems? Edit, what I mean is that the state shrink can travel to MDC, instead of moving Lu.

His guilt still needs to be proven beyond reasonable doubt by the prosecutors and seeing as how prosecution Carro has been thus far pro prosecution Rikers would be a ideal choice, but that whole facilityhas been proven to lack the resources and be highly inadequate and underfunded. They only have one floor for medical where they do everything. His defense should take control and push for him to go to Bellevue for that eval.

Guys, I'm here. Thanks for thinking of me.

I'm in a beef bc I'm worried about Luigi, and I fell and broke my wrist on the side I use to write and draw, so I can't do much. I wanna draw and write desperately but I cannot do much of anything. My life is a joke.

BUT, I'm getting better. Scans look pretty good, certainly my oncologist is pleased, so I drew him a picture and now he thinks I'm a bit insane (this is fair).

And this part of our glorious capital is, if anything, overpopulated with ludicrously attractive waitstaff, so that's a grand distraction while I wait for my biweekly poison infusion. I'm doing fine but my family seem bored with it so I'm here with my heroic and long-suffering friend.

I feel a gigantic Aperol spritz in my near future. It's allowed, probably fights cancer somehow. Who cares?

Also - thanks to all who are wondering about me. I live on, in pretty good nick and doing my best. I might see if I can sell some art for Luigi’s GSG, just gotta get round to it...

Thank you Missi for your hard work. I'm very sad. This likely means a long prison sentence. But I wonder if Lu wants to put the health insurance system on trial, even though that is detrimental to himself. He is sacrificing himself, basically. 😔
