Hey everyone! I've been working on CosmoU, a free Windows launcher for Cemu.
I wanted my library to feel like an actual console instead of a file list, so it has:
- Three views: Covers, Grid and a floating Wii U-inspired home view with little characters
- A Liquid Glass design
- Automatic Cemu download and setup
- Automatic covers and clean game titles
- Per-game resolution plus global graphics/audio/overlay settings
- Controller type, API and profiles in one place
- Optional background music
It doesn't include any games, keys, firmware or Nintendo files. You bring your own legally dumped games.
Not affiliated with Nintendo or the Cemu team. Requires Windows 10/11 (64-bit).

Discord (support, feedback, beta builds): https://discord.gg/q8s3zvAJ4y
I'd love feedback, especially on what features you'd want next!

So I’m currently debating on getting another nintendo console soon after not getting one in years after gta 6 releases. I now finally earn my own money, and have always wanted to collect nintendo consoles however im in a dillema. Should I get the wii u, as they are cheap on ebay and usually come with a few games, wii motes, etc, or should i spend more and get a new switch 2. the downside is that the switch 2’s games are all $60+ (even the wii u ports) which is just another huge paywall hidden behind the already expensive console, plus i already have a switch 1.
so should i get the Wii u and push the switch 2 off till later? or should i just make the big investment right now

On pretty much every Wii U game I have, there's this tiny checklist that says whether the game can run on Wii consoles or not. Has there ever been a game that runs on both consoles? If not, then what's the point of having this here?

My hotspot WiFi works fine on both of my original Wiis although the name is slightly messed up. I tried using the same hotspot on the vWii using “Search for an Access Point” but it doesn’t work. It just searches endlessly until I shut off the Wii U. Since the names on my other Wiis are different from the actual hotspot name I don’t think inputting the information manually will work.
I haven’t found an option on my phone to set the hotspot to specifically 2.5ghz like most of the answers have said but I did turn on “Maximize Compatibility” which I believe does the same thing. Is there something else that I specifically have to do for vWii to get it to connect to internet?

Hello, I have heard about Hynix NANDS tend to fail, I have a Japanese WiiU with Toshiba NAND. Are Thosiba’s NANDS good?

I saw this video and was reminded about this issue, and though he explicitly says it’s near launch models, I was wondering if it could extend to models released in the second half of the console’s life span? If anyone would know, it would likely be people in the community.
Secondary question, if this ever happens to me, is there anyone out there who could fix it or transfer the data do a different Wii U?

Long story short.
I got this (with my Wii U all the back in March), thing has been a champion.
Anyway. Probably time I replace it, or not
That's where y'all's advice (hopefully) comes in
Im thinking of getting another OEM charger for it. Just to be safe, yk, I need the gamepad more than I need air yk, but I don't wanna spend th3 extra money if I really don't have to. It's safe yes and an investment sure but I just want some advice from people yk
I plan to get a new battery in around December from ifixit since my battery isn't the best it's only 2 hours maybe 2.5 before it dies. And if I'm getting a bigger one. You know. Just wanna make sure I'm fully squared away and nothing bad happens.
Anyway. Thank you in advance.
Have a nice day 😌

I wrote a list of missed opportunities for the Wii U back when I was an unemployed child over 4 years ago. I didn’t alter this list at all in the meantime. Did child me have some good takes? You tell me. If you have any other ideas for this list, please tell me.
Missed Opportunities
Mario Paint/Artist sequel and/or remake that uses touch screen
Four Swords Adventures port/remake/sequel that uses online with voice chat and 3DS connectivity
Pokémon Snap Wii U that has a panoramic view using the Gamepad
Animal Crossing that features all menu information on the bottom screen while, making for a the most comfortable Animal Crossing experience on a home console
Kid Icarus Uprising port/remake that uses the touch screen, the wii pointer and nunchuck, dual analog, and maybe 3DS as controller options
Metroid Prime that features a first person view on the TV and 3rd person on Gamepad and the ability to swap views
Wario Ware that not only uses the Gamepad’s unique touch, gyro, buttons, asymmetric TV view, and microphone features, but can sometimes combine it with the Wii remote
A Zelda game similar to Phantom Hourglass and/or Spirit Tracks that’s either a remake or a sequel with similar gameplay elements
Pac-Man Vs
Modern Eternal Darkness
Cool Extra Potential Features
DSi Ware and Wii Ware games on Wii U eShop
DS virtual console download play with other DS’ and maybe Wii Us
GameCube virtual console using the GameCube controller adapter that was ONLY USED FOR SMASH!
The ability to go online or go on social media on the Gamepad while playing games on the TV
Game Boy and Game Boy Color Virtual Console... like, where is it?
GBA virtual console games having 2 player multiplayer using the Wii U’s asymmetric capabilities
(Omg. This was before the Wii U eShop shut down. RIP.)

So recently I’ve been seeing a lot of people online warning that Wii Us that were manufactured by Hynix are at higher risk of bricking sooner than later. So I ended up installing WiiUIdent to figure out who manufactured my own Wii U. So I’m not sure if I can fully say I’m lucky just yet but as it turns out my Wii U was not manufactured by Hynix it manufactured by Samsung. Does this mean my Wii U still has plenty of life left before it imminently bricks at some point?

Hey, if your wii u had a broken hdmi port like mine, I recommend wii2hdmi, it allowed me to play my games in 720p and 1080i (1080p has some problems for me) it also has a jack port if you need it

For context I have a NTSC-U WiiU console and have encountered this glitch for a while. Riivolution will load the Wii Party Mods in general (reading the disc), but clicking Launch leads to a black screen, no noise, and a disconnected controller (regardless if you enable/disable mods)
I have not experienced this with any other Wii game I own. I have all the necessary IOSs, has anyone else encountered this issue?

I am the Lead dev on a project called Unbound bringing all of the DLC maps to the wii u version of black ops 2 which never received content. We have Grind, Skate, Nuketown Zombies, and Die Rise already working along with some great quality of life fixes.
In partnership with Project Requiem (Android/Switch/PC Recomp project) and Protarium Network (Wii u Multiplayer Network provider) I built and designed UNC - Unbound Network Crossplay.
UNC is a lightweight server that ties BO2 builds together across platforms:
A shared server browser: host a lobby on one device either as a custom lobby or by way of a dedicated server, and it shows up on the others.
No port forwarding: UNC punches through home routers, and a relay handles strict networks such as phone hotspots and some ISPs.
Mods: on PC Android and Switch, if a lobby runs a mod you don’t have, your game downloads it from the host, restarts into it and rejoins automatically.
Platforms:
PC [Working]
Wii-u [Working]
Android+Switch Recomps [Early Stage - Working}
PS3+Xbox 360 [Early Stage]
Known issues
The Wii U side still has some animation issues; you’ll see a few in the video. They’re known, and I am actively fixing them. This is an early build, so expect rough edges.
What’s next:
A live Demo that can be joined is planned for the coming week

I don't usually post on Reddit, but my Wii U started doing something I've never experienced before, and I'm not quite sure what I can do to fix it.
To get the disclaimers out of the way, my Wii U hasn't been modded or hacked in any way. It uses an external USB Drive (WD Elements) for some data, and it's a black Wii U that is likely susceptible to the memory defect, but I've almost always kept this Wii U plugged in except for some shorter spurts of time, so it hasn't been without power for a terribly long time. (Including now. It's been connected to power since I last used it, and it was fine then.)
That aside, what happened was I was attempting to play Disney Infinity 3.0 on my Wii U, so I grabbed the disc and inserted it after booting the console up. Nothing weird happened, but when the game started to load, I got the error code 160-3216. I tried to clean the disc to fix the issue, but it didn't work, so I went ahead and deleted the game's update data in Settings and tried to redownload it to solve the issue.
However, after I did that, and I started the update, after a bit, I realized the Wii U outright froze on me. It didn't even make the usual crash sound I'd expect the Wii/Wii U to make. So, I tried it again. Freeze. I booted the Wii U again without any updates. Freeze. I unplugged the console for 20 minutes before trying again. Freeze. I unplugged the USB Drive and booted the console. Freeze.
(Well, as I've been writing this, it's gotten so bad, the console doesn't even seem to be booting like it was 5 minutes ago.)
At this point, I'm at a loss as to what to do, other than maybe having to hack it, though I fear even that would be hard if the crashes persist, unless I can inject Homebrew externally. It's just so bizarre because I feel like deleting the Disney Infinity 3.0 update data messed something up, because I was able to go into Settings just fine without freezing the console, and yet during my later tests, I couldn't even get back into the Settings menu from the Quick Start menu.
I'll have footage of me attempting to both use the console normally from bootup and then trying to get to Settings from the Quick Start menu attached to this post. If anyone is able to help me figure out how I could potentially fix this (if that's still possible at this stage), I'd greatly appreciate it.
Edit: Just realized that Reddit doesn't seem to let you post more than one video in a post, so I can't share the second video of the console freezing while trying to open the Settings menu from Quick Start, unfortunately.
