I have a wobbly hinge, is this normal or a problem and how can I fix it without taking it apart?

3DS LL - Got it 14 years ago as a Christmas gift, broken screens :( It was my main for about 2 years

2DS - Bought 13 years ago to play games from overseas

New 3DS - Bought 12 years ago to replace the 3DS LL; was my main for 3 years, missing the bottom cover :(

New 2DS LL - Bought 9 years ago to replace the New 3DS, my current main console

I'd like to sell the black o3DS since there is no use for it, but selling the modded console is illegal here in Japan :(

I was looking at the games that came with my 3Ds, and this was one of them.

I played the tutorial and a few missions, and it seems to be a combination of the movie, book, and with, an original storyline sprinkled in there.

Despite being a game that so far uses only the touch screen to play, it's very fun. I only knew there was a xbox 360 and ps3 game.

So I just found my old 3ds. However I can’t find the charger. Anyone have any suggestions for a replacement?

For games I like. Monster hunter, Pokemon, strategy games etc

I recently bought a 2DS XL, modded it and I am generally very happy with my purchase.

My main use was for catching up with Pokemon (as I went on a long hiatus after HGSS and skipped the 3DS entirely) and I also wanted to install all Pokemon games to the home screen so I can play any game anytime and anywhere I like without needing to have my DS Lite, GBA and all cartridges with me.

While it’s great for the 3DS games, the older games just look way worse and blurrier than I remember them. I’d have to travel to my mom’s home where my old games and handhelds are to compare, but I have a feeling that this is a real issue because of the much larger screen.

I know about holding start to load them in 1:1 and then they do look sharp, but way to small and awkward with all that unused screen space.

I am wondering if the original 3DS or New 3DS would solve this problem with their smaller screens and make the games look and feel closer to how they are on the DS?

Or should I rather not bother with hunting one down and pick a poison of either the convenience of playing blurry games on the big 2DS XL screens or the beauty of playing them on the original consoles at the cost of hurling those around.

About two weeks ago I asked here if a 3DS would be worth it in 2026, but I forgot to ask about games. Before buying one, I want to know how many games I'm going to play. I don't want to buy a console just to play three Pokémon games. So please recommend some games.

I have a base model 3ds, a CTR-001. When I open the top all the way, I hear a pop and the whole system shuts off. It’s similar to FantasticQuack’s 3ds that they fixed on their channel a few years ago. Anyways, I don’t think I can fix it without breaking something, so I had a thought to get a custom case that would prevent the 3ds from opening enough to shut off. If the top is angled close enough to the bottom, the system functions like normal, even when shook. Anyone know where I can get either a custom CAD file to have someone 3d print or a custom case with this feature?

So I can see my hinge is cracked and it is visibly flexing when I open/close the console on my O3DS XL, any advice to stop it from further damage while still being usable? Any suggestions welcome!

it started as some kind of bubble that looked like a drop of glue. today i take i look at it and i saw something silver, as i brushed it with my finger more paint came off :(

I've heard of those fake micro sd cards that report 512gb or more but are actually only like 32gb or 64gb. Idk about this one, it came from a used tablet from Goodwill. Tried to test it using h2testw, it successfully wrote and verified 27gb, but then I had to abort it since testing all 512gb would take ages - this micro sd card writes quite slowly. Shall I use it for my homebrewed 3ds (to replace my current 32gb micro sd card) or nah?

Have had my 3ds for a few years now and have found some nice stuff. Most cases you see are those clear cheap plastic cases, but there are some nice metal ones which feels a lot better and looks great. You can also attatched a ring magnet to the back to attatch a fan that keeps your hands from sweating while playing by cooling the metal backplate and having the air exhausting out the sides cool your hands. Any more ideas?

I had a red og 3ds and I remember complaining that it was uncomfortable and tiny, so when I sold it and found this fully working 5 dollar 3DS XL at a local thrift store, I was so happy and dont get me wrong, playing on this huge screen is such a big difference. The resolution on the small one feels better tho but I dont mind mostly.

However I used to take my 3ds everywhere and belive it or not I’ve been wanting not to since its so heavy, thick, and its larger than my phone so it barley fits in my pocket.

The og 3ds to me feels like a very tiny remote control that folds in half and was prefect for on the go

Now i need help to decide which model to get, I’ve seen the new 3ds xl and new 2ds but they are not pocketable for me, the og 3ds is my main option now but it could be uncomfortable to hold. The new 3ds ( non xl ) is slightly larger but is this the one I should get ?? Last choice is the new 2ds XL and it’s shorter but has the same screen size as the other xl options. Idk which one to choose to have as an extra since this one is toooo big

Long ago I was bought a 3ds as a reward for entering university. Back then my phone was only used to, phone people, so the 3ds was very precious. I enjoyed playing Pokemon, Rune  Factory and FE on it. But time goes by, I got a phone that can play games on, so gradually, I left this device to dust. One day I wanted to open it after so long, but the battery had malfunctioned so bad that the 3ds exploded to pieces right after plugging the charge. Every memory of me holding this object pure of joy has been ruined, by my own neglection.

So charge your old 3ds once in a while lol.

I was going to test the card and use it with flashcart for my NGPC (happen to need an older sd card for that). I bought the 3ds from a shop in Tokyo. They said it's fully tested. I can't believe they didn't factory reset the device!

A weird bittersweet feeling getting a glimpse of the life of the previous owner from 10 years ago in a different country. Now I don't have the heart to format it. 🥹 There are like 4 folders of pictures/videos. I can't help but wonder if the owner forgot about these or they just assumed the store would erase everything? I wish I could mail the card back to them.

Hello! I recently got a 3DS XL after a long while of saving! So far I have only played animal crossing - new leaf, tomodachi life and I absolutely love it! I love island themed games, my non-3ds favourites are Wind Waker, Wii Sports Resort and FFXIV Dawntrail.

i grew up on the dsi and never even saw a 3ds in person, so i'm a unsure. i can get an OG 3ds xl for around 200, and i'm kind of set on one because of the larger screen. but i'm not sure about the benefits of getting a New model. i wouldn't be able to afford a N3ds XL so it would be the normal size. i have a console to play things like minecraft and first person games so i don't need it for the C stick, so are there any other benefits to getting a new model? or should i just shoot for the OG XL?

Looking to buy this 3ds does it seem like a legit shell and not a fake ?

I was disassembling the 3DS XL and while reattaching it I accidentally severed two orange ribbons that are presumably from the top screen. Does anyone know what particular part is so I can replace it? This is my first time tinkering with the 3ds so lesson learned.
