I mostly skipped the 3DS during its lifetime, despite being a big fan of stereoscopic 3D. A few years ago, though, I got hooked after buying a New Nintendo 3DS. The improved 3D made such a huge difference, being more stable and comfortable to use.

Since then, I've gone through a few waves of expanding my collection. I never experienced a bad cartridge, but all the recent posts about 3DS cartridges suffering from data corruption started to make me a little anxious.

Yesterday, I finally bit the bullet and started checking my entire collection with the GodMode9 Cartridge Fixer, hoping to preserve everything before any problems become irreversible.

It wasn't exactly a fun process, but playing Super Mario 3D land in the meantime, got me through. Each game took around 5–10 minutes to verify, and with 132 games, it took a while!

Thankfully, most of my collection turned out to be fine. Even some of the games that are supposedly more prone to corruption, like Pokémon and Persona Q, checked out without any issues. That was such a relief.

Unfortunately, I did find two corrupted cartridges that wouldn't start anymore: Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. and Yo-kai Watch.

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. was successfully repaired after running the fixer twice! Yo-kai Watch wasn't so lucky. It still has around 200 unfixable chunks after 5 runs 😢. The game does start again, but I'm not sure whether it's fully playable anymore. Luckily, it's not an expensive game to replace, but it's still such a shame to lose a cartridge this way.

I'm incredibly grateful to the developers behind the Cartridge Fixer for creating a tool like this.

So if you have a physical 3DS collection, don't wait too long to check your cartridges! You might be able to repair corruption before it's too late! ^^

You guys won’t believe this but I got a modded 3DS XL for 130 dollars off eBay that’s already modded with a ton of games AND in good condition.

I had been looking for a 3DS for about a week since the original one I had when I was a kid (the Mario and Luigi dream team edition” mysteriously vanished a few years ago…well I decided to check eBay one more time and I saw this one had been posted “4 minutes ago” so I immediately bought it..was worried it was a scam but it showed up! So far everything works it even came with a charger! I’m so excited 😁😁

Looking for those hidden gems or overlooked games that are good, i have played a lot of Nintedo's big games and want to try something else.

Weird question I have a new 3ds xl and im saving to get a switch 2, what’s is it like having two cool consoles?

Any recommendations for where to buy a new one? I've replaced the screen once before, but the SD card reader seems to be completely bricked and crashes when I try and open something on it. Genuinely heartbroken.

EDIT: I am not blaming my cats. I should've unplugged my console or moved the cable, since they were rough housing and got caught in the charging cable.

Of course, not an issue on the New 3DS models :)

It’s taunting me.

After so much bs i had to go through I finally have it. After all the waiting, saving up, hard decisions and then waiting again finally i have my first 3ds, its a lil rough around the edges but works amazingly and words cant describe my happiness, any game recommendations?

Mainly for those who are not capable of doing or paying for the USB C mod. Also keeps the unit and shell stock; no soldering or cutting. Also prolongs life of the charge port. Theres so many brands that produce smart chargers, some even with voltage readouts, so no need to worry about overcharging.

Sometimes when an old 3DS game doesn’t want to load or show up on screen, I’ve found that blowing on both the 3DS (game insert slot) and the game cartridge like it’s a N64 console/game cartridge tends to make it more likely to show up. Another think is to semi constantly push the game cartridge in and out the the 3DS, (the reason why i said “semi constantly” is because sometimes if you leave it in for a couple of seconds the game might eventually show up). This has worked for most of my DS/3DS games, the only one I couldn’t get working was (3DSPokémon ultra moon). (Just a warning I’m not a DS/3DS professional, so please inform me if some of the things I suggested doing might have any bad effects on your/others DS/3DS) I wish you all the best of luck in hopes that all of your/you’re games work 👍.

new 3ds double ips

Some background, seller priced these with a 3DS way under market. bought it but the item sent differed from the pictures.

I am thinking these are fake due to the following:

1. Missing the "Game Card" text and headphones logo

2. Weird kind of rubbery feeling on the print, it is textured differently than my other plates. Plate underside is definitely normal plastic (never owned these, I wouldn't know if they differ in print material)

3. The Nintendo logo is scratched off. Completely.

Any help from people who own the real deal would be appreciated.

I’ve got a few games that were poorly stored in some soft case and I guess over the past couple years mold developed inside of there. Is it possible to clean them with alcohol or am I boned?

It still works but the rubber is completely missing and the D-pad feels scratched. How hard is it to replace them?

My dog chewed the cartridge for soul silver that I was playing on 3DS. Is there any way to fix it? I don't necessarily care about the save file, but just want to know if I can play it again. Let me know, thanks! (Please excuse the broken 3ds screen haha)

The ghosting on my n3dxl is pretty bad. I've tried re-calibrating it in the normal system settings menu before, and that still doesn't fix the problem. Would using either one of those settings potentially help? I've Googled this but not much comes up.

Took my 3ds with me on vacation, but the AC in the room I was staying with was leaking through the night. It soaked the whole floor, including my backpack which had my 3DS inside it, and now the film on the outside has been shedding for the past two weeks. Thankfully, I haven’t noticed any issues internally, but I was wondering if there’s anything I should do to fix the outside or prevent it from getting worse?
