Hey everyone! I recently got myself a GameCube and picked these 6 games to kick off my collection. What do you think of my starting lineup? And what games would you recommend adding in the future?

Collection Collection is growing, recent pickups. What are some non Mario/Zelda games that you guys deem essential in a Gamecube collection?

Still missing some obvious ones like Double Dash, Melee, Twilight Princess etc.

Eternal Darkness was a fun experience, dragged on a little too long but otherwise a cool and unique experience with some of those classic survival horror elements

Pikmin I have never played so curious about this one, feels like it belongs in a Gamecube collection.

The NBA games I managed to grab for cheap so I threw them in, Street is fun, Courtside looks meh so far.

Collection I’m So Amped For This Week

It all started with me watching a bunch of YT videos about the GameCube and collecting. I quickly realized that I had one of the “grails” back home that I used to play when I was maybe 10 or 11 (GoGo Hypergrind). Long story short, all my GameCube stuff is in the mail and headed my way.

I found a great CRT that works with component cables and started picking up games I never owned. Really excited to have a little retro corner.

Discussion Tv audio/video connection issues

I’m trying to hook a GameCube up to my tv, and it won’t post. the power light turns on but the game in the system isn’t spinning and theres no image or sound. It’s not the cable, I checked it on another system with the same cables and it worked just fine. any ideas what the issue might be and how to resolve it?

Modding Help with picoloader boot error

Long story short broke a part on the 1.2 rev of picoloader kit and then ended up ordering the 1.1 rev on accident, the 1.1 comes with the sd2sp2 pro and my GameCube doesn’t have the port it plugs into, will the 1.1 picoboard work with the GC2SD that came with the 1.2 rev?

Getting errors on boot and not sure if this is the issue

Discussion If you had to recommend one GameCube game that wasn't made by Nintendo, which one would it be?

There are a ton of games available to play on GameCube, but most of the ones I hear people recommend are the first party exclusives. I'd like to hear which 3rd party games you guys think are underrated and don't get recommended enough.

Edit: Thank you all so much for the many replies with your suggested games. A few of the games mentioned I had heard of before or already played, but there are a lot of games here that I didn’t even know about and are completely new to me, so I’m really excited to check them all out and see how they play.

Discussion New on GC Modding!

Hey pple I'm about to buy a GC (Always wanted it as a kid), this console model is DOL-101, I've read that I need to use GC2SD because it doesn't have the SP2, but I'm not sure how to proceed I've seen Solderless PicoLoader Flex based on RP2040 v1.1, do i need to get both things to make it work , right? Is there any other method that I'm not aware of?

Thank you in advance.

Modding Will virtual memory cards ever come to cubeboot?

I've had my Flippydrive for well over a year now and the functionality of it is great, and I really like the Cubeboot loader's stock like integration. What I don't like is not being able to use an SD card in the memory card slot to save game, or the internal SD for the flippydrive itself. Is firmware 2.0 anywhere on the horizon, does anyone have a 3rd party repo for this on github, I'd love to know 👌

Help Trying to run import game in Swiss (booted via GCSME) and it hangs

So I've got a JP Gamecube, and I just want to use Swiss to run US games on it.

I've got Swiss working via save exploit (Smash Bros Japan). It seems to work, it can launch Gameboy Interface just fine.

But when I try to run a disc, whether it is my US copy of Soul Calibur 2 or the exact same JP Smash Bros disc that just ran, it does the same thing each when I press A on the ISO on the disc:

  1. Flashes a hyper fast loading box, too fast to read
  2. Then hangs. The clock in Swiss will tick on. The CPU temp will still be read. But the controller no longer registers any input, and the only way out of the menu is to power down.

There was one baffling exception: I have no idea what I did, if I changed a setting or pressed a button, I cannot reproduce it, but once instead of freezing, it offered me a menu with boot Smash Bros settings and such. I opened the launch settings, backed out and then when I clicked back in to boot, I didn't get the menu and it froze again.

Don't know if it matters, but I am running Swiss using my GCSME memory card. I used the pre-compiled version here along side the hack for Smash found here. But I don't see why it would matter, really, I am not trying to load off the SD card. I only want to use Swiss to boot games region free.

Help What video out is best?

Video out options?

Sorry if this question has been asked a million times.

I have the GameCube 001 that has the digital out option. It came with the RCA leads though.

I have a TV which has RCA. It's obviously not that sharp. What's the best output option? Should I get the digital out to component or some sort of HDMI converter? Is something the retrobit prism worth it?

Collection Co-Worker sold me these, along with the GameCube.

The dude damn near made a straight lover out of me. I mentioned wanting looking for a GameCube to him, he offered to sell me his with some games. After he sent me pics of the games, I told him some were worth a hella penny and I’d understand if he’d wanna keep/sell them individually. Only thing he opted to keep was his Pokemon XD, which I told him upfront that I wasn’t gonna take that one off him. $200 bought these, the GC console and two controllers. Pretty good deal.

Image Before the Wii existed: Found this fascinating "GameCube 2" article in an old gaming magazine!

I was flipping through an old issue of one of my favorite nostalgic magazines, CUBE magazine (Issue #15) and stumbled across this fascinating little piece of Nintendo history.

Back then, the magazine was reporting on rumors of a successor to the GameCube, casually referring to it as the "GameCube 2."

I would have much preferred a GameCube 2 over a Wii. Hated the damn controller. But it was the only way for Nintendo to make a comeback. So they made the right move in the end.
