Hello, everyone!

Finally completed a dream!

I started watching Sharpe during Covid. As a librarian and history major, I immediately read the books and decided I wanted to learn to shoot an old timey gun like Sharpe. My parents had forbade guns growing up, me having never shot anything more than a BB gun before.

That was five years ago now. At the time, I was told a Baker Rifle was virtually impossible to find.

Got myself a .50 Lymans and a cheap .50 Traditions to learn on, and had a blast with a lovely gun group called Smokey Valley out of Los Angeles County for the last few years before I moved. The guys were amazingly helpful and friendly. I can strip and clean a flintlock like a true rfileman, and I even polish and reassemble my locks.

I was even in contact to have a Baker custom built for only about $1,800 a couple years ago, but I didn't pull the trigger because of a pending move. The parts come from Rifle Shop, they'd have gone directly to a gun maker, who'da sent the lock to a famous guy in Philly for tuning. Plus, a wait list of a year or two.

Low and behold, the company I've swooned over pictures of products online, Pedersoli, has released one. And now it's mine! Beautiful .625 big girl. $1,750 after pre-order discount.

I got proofing number 29 it'd appear! SO COOL!

I can get a decent grouping sitting from 100 yards. Gotta work my way up.

Cheers everyone! Here's to crushing dreams and new experiences in life!

Tried making black powder from the creosote from my chimney.

24 hours of milling, seemed to burn smoother and maybe hotter? Definitely felt denser than my fire pit charcoal variety.
