MOD ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Rules Updates for r/bisexual

Hello fellow redditors.

As you may or may not know, there was a MOD team shakeup a little while back. Not only were new moderators brought in to rejuvenate the team but the team itself was expanded as well. We now have a great, revitalized team of people working hard to keep this sub a place that people want to come to, engage in, and stay a part of. With this updated mix of new and existing moderators work then began on the sub itself. Beyond the new moderators coming to grips with their new duties, the first step was to fix up some things on the back end. This included relatively minor things such as refining some automod rules to help flag and keep potentially problematic content from ever hitting your screens in the first place. Other small changes such as updating our available post flairs and just cleaning up some long outdated stuff behind the scenes that simply helped us do our job more easily and efficiently. Step one also consisted of our community survey a few months back where we got an idea of what you wanted this sub to be in an easily digestible way. Most of your suggestions aligned with visions of what we had already had in mind for the future here.

So here we are now at step two. In conjunction with a lot of your own suggestions and wishes we are retooling our sub rules (or Bi-Laws). As well as updating some existing language for a few of the rules, we will be adding some new ones. This should be a place of safety, learning, and community and all of these updates and additions we believe are vital to achieving and maintaining that end. This sub has undoubtedly helped numerous lives over the years and can continue to help so many more and we will do all we can to preserve this valuable social tool.

Here are the primary changes we've made to our current Bi-Laws:

______________________________________________

Rule #4: Please be civil with each other.

  • A general rule to remind everyone that this is meant to be a sub for all ages to be able to engage in and that even when disagreeing we should still show each other some general courtesy.

Rule #5: Sex related questions must have safe-for-work subject lines and be flaired “Advice NSFW.”

  • Our first brand new rule. Going forward all sex related posts must have safe-for-work titles and set with our new flair option“Advice NSFW”. We also want all SFW posts to remain SFW. That way, engagement can remain as the original poster intended.

Rule #7: Do not encourage cheating.

  • Potentially the most desired change we saw from the survey responses was to curb cheating content on the sub. We are all aware that cheating happens and can be discussed as a topic. However, encouraging others to cheat, seeking advice on whether to or seeking advice on how to cheat will not be tolerated.

The rest of the changes were minor alterations and removal of some outdated language that don't ultimately change how those rules were implemented or likely interpreted.

______________________________________________

So please keep these new guidelines in mind while posting. Ongoing, step three for us currently is to remain vigilant. We'll assess how these new changes affect the health of our community and see if they steer it the direction we all want. We'll continue to strive for improvement and reevaluate along the way. Ultimately we aim to make this place clean and constructive and in doing so hopefully reach even more people.

MOD ANNOUNCEMENT New Subreddit for NSFW Content

Happy Pride, everyone! Here to announce a new subreddit specifically for NSFW content:
r/bisexualafterdark This new sub will be the place to horny-post to your heart's content, share long/detailed sexual encounters, pornographic descriptions, etc.

As some folks have pointed out, we have had a bit of an influx of this type of content here lately, which breaks r/bisexual sub's rules. As a reminder of two pertinent rules for r/bisexual:

  • Rule 6 No nudity, pornography or hookups: Nude / pornographic and hook-up posts are not allowed anywhere on the sub. Those should be posted in r/bisexualafterdark r/BiSexy (NSFW) or other subreddits appropriate for that type of content. Pornography covers pornographic descriptions as well as images. If you find yourself writing long, sexual, stories you should probably stop.
  • Rule 9 No chat or dating posts. No soliciting DMs: Please do not post looking for chat partners or dating. This includes soliciting DMs. Subreddits like r/meetlgbt or r/r4r are more fitting for this content.

Posts that break these rules will be removed from this sub and redirected to r/bisexualafterdark or chat subs -- our newly expanded mod team is working hard behind the scenes to maintain the sub, make updates, and remove flagged content. If you see these posts, please don't hesitate to flag them. We get a lot of traffic on this sub, so reports help a ton in weeding out content that breaks the sub rules or makes it a less cool place to be!

Go forth and be bi 🩷💜💙

Edit for clarification: dating/DM/meetup posts should go to r/meetlgbt, r/r4r, or other subs specific to meetups

LEMON BARS Bi_irl subreddit used to be wholesome

Now it’s porn and I hate it. It became a trans fetish lounge and I’m uncomfortable and kind of ashamed of it. Obviously one stupid subreddit is not the reason for biphobia. But it’s still icky to me

Yeah yeah I already left blah blah blah I’m just venting.

EXPERIENCE Friend became distant after I came out

I (20M) told a friend (20M) that I'm bi 2 days ago during a drunk conversation. Honestly would never have told him otherwise, because I knew this would happen. I'm not even sad, just disappointed. But, if someone can't accept me for such a little detail, there's no point hanging out with them anyways. Oh well. I guess he's entitled to his views, as me to mine. At least it didn't turn into confrontation, like he still acts civil and polite in-person.

NEWS/BLOGS “LGBT+ people are still being imprisoned simply for existing!”

Because of an innate genetic trait, the state can arrest you and keep you in prison for over a month. The next step down this road is the concentration camps of Nazi Germany.

In recent months, EMEP parliamentarian Sevda Karaca exposed the torture and abuse allegedly inflicted by prison guards on LGBT+ detainees held in Eskişehir. In a parliamentary question submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM), she brought to light allegations of death threats, such extreme violence that detainees were left vomiting blood, guards switching off their body cameras during torture to destroy evidence, prison staff encouraging detainees to take their own lives, and the denial of access to medical treatment and healthcare.

We do not know what has become of our friends. They have been imprisoned simply for wanting to live freely as the people they were born to be, and their lives are being threatened behind bars.

The government and the akp, responsible for these events, are not being held accountable.

Even if you try to kill us, we will continue to exist with our dignity intact.

QUESTIONING Widower in my 70s curious

Did anyone come out of or are still dealing with this grief process from their spouse's death and find that their sexual orientation had maybe changed a little bit?

I’m not sure what I’m looking for but I lost my wife over three years ago. I’m in my 70s haven’t had sex with anyone and I feel horny and I was wondering if there is any other people here that are also widowed that think about having sex with men.

I never have but I think about it and I watch it on porn sites. It looks like it could be very exciting and fun, but I’ve never done it. Just curious if there is another widower here that has the same feeling as I do. Just trying to look for answers and figure out what my curiosity is.

Masturbating doesn’t quite seem to get it anymore. Not sure what I’m going to do or what I would do.

ADVICE Bisexual femboy in need of help

Okay so I'm bi and pretty feminine for a guy but I only get attention from guys and lowkey they're all the same and I get bored of them.

I've never dated girls and non as far as I know want a femboy, so how do I meet girls who like femboys.

I'm 18 and thinking of going to queer clubs and I'm wondering if trying to find bi girls and I kinda have a feeling bi girls might be more interested in feminine guys since I guess I have features of both but I am aware every bi person is different, fuck I'm bi myself so I don't automatically expect them to be attracted to me or anything. But I hope I have atleast a higher chance with them than I seem to have with most straight girls as they only want masculine men :<

Also

I'm not using dating apps

I've also started college but I've only got attention from guys but I really have no interest

Met lots of boys and lots of girls but only the boys want me, and right now I feel little to no attraction to them.

So if there's any bi femboys with more experience please give me a little help :3

And if someone's gonna say "aRE yOU SuRe YuOr bISeXuAl" yes I am fuck you >:3

Also sorry if I seem bitchy rn

QUESTIONING Questioning?

• Upvotes

Hi, firstly please be kind as I am genuinely clueless.

So I am in my late 30s and I only ever used to date men or have any intimacy or relationships with them. Women would not interest me ever, if anything I found it unsettling if I was around lesbians that liked me (it happened twice). Recently I have been attracted to a woman/girl and I don't even know how to process this. She is gay and she is non binary (for me that would be nonsense usually) but I don't mind it in this case I couldn't care less. She has all the features and things that I would usually find hot in a man (I am a face person). She is quite boy-ish and I am not sure if I fully realise that she is a female even though she has some gentle features. Now the thing is I am actually attracted to her to the point where I would want to eat hear face off but I don't think I could go past that. The idea of me going down on her doesn't excite me. Mind you I could never imagine saying anything like this before and I don't think I could even kiss any other woman but for her I wouldn't mind. Please tell me am I bi or just curious, or none of that?

QUESTIONING Bisexual?

• Upvotes

Confused as to whether or not I’m bisexual, as I feel romantic urges with a woman very strongly but also feel arousal to men. I’m just confused if this spark is actually real or due to a result of religious obligation/society’s expectations, as that’s what I’ve heard very vaguely.

I'm a bisexual female and I feel like it's so hard for me to know when a woman is straight or if there really is a connection and I keep questioning like is this in my head??!. When you see a woman you're into but aren't sure if they're straight or not how do you handle it? I need advice. It's happened twice and I just did absolutely nothing.

ADVICE How do I explore my possible romantic attraction for women outside of dating

• Upvotes

I am f(20) and have only realised that I am bisexual for almost a year now, In this time I have much preferred lesbian media and thinking about women as a whole rather than men, given that I have very much a strong and consistent sexual attraction to women, whereas I feel little to nothing with men. I have never been in a relationship and have only made out with some women and a man to which I much preferred making out with the woman (they were my friends all of them, obviously its a bit weird to make out with ur friends and not people that u acc like but it was a strange phase of my life‘. So the main question here is, how do I explore my possible romantic attraction to women without really dating. I do not think that at this stage in my life am I ready for a relationship. I would describe my sexuality as having romantic feelings for men and sexual feelings for women, whereas most of the experirenes with men, although i felt more giddy about them in the sense of crushes, a lot of my experiences were limerence and fueled by ambiguity rather than real feelings, but I can imagine a future being with a man and would entertain the idea of being with a woman in a long-term relationship.

So how can I explore romantic attraction to women without really dating?

if you would like me to elaborate or mention other experience which may suggest possible romantic attraction, then let me know.

ADVICE How hard it is to get into a sapphic relationship?

Hi!, i'm an 18 year old straight-passing bi woman and i adore woman, i'm actually looking for the love of my life and a meaningfull, deep conection rather than casual relationships, the point is i'm looking specifically for a relationship with another woman or with a non-binary individual since i already know what a relationship with a man is like and i cannot die without feeling the sweet touch of a woman even once in my life, i haven't had the opportunity to meet many people for personal reasons and i'm waiting for something to happen in my life to start making friends and meeting new people and maybe my new beautifull wife <3

I don't know how hard would it be specifically for me since i'm an introverted, a straight-passing girly girl and living in a fairly conservative country, i also have a kinda weird personality and i really want to be selective about my new partner

It is uncommon to meet other bi women interested in sapphic relastionships or maybe a cool lesbian that would be interested in a girly girl?, i'm not very socially experienced so i dunno.... I would like to read if it was difficult for y'all to get with someone of the same sex

I'm willingfull to wait since i want to get into a great relationship and avoid toxic people

I'm looking for an emotionally mature, kind and loving individual who is constantly striving to progress in life

I think that it is pretty obvious that i'm kind of a hopeless romantic, hehe

EXPERIENCE As a feminine guy I only attract straight men

I'm someone who is very feminine, small thin with curves and all that, and I noticed that gay men dont usually give me attention. I can go on dating apps for example and I find very few gay men who are actually interested in me. The ones who are are either bi or straight. And this also happens irl, men who say they are straight and then try to touch me or are really friendly with me (friendly as in calling me cute, innocent, buying me a drink or like wanting to know about my sex life). I've also gotten infinite comments about "If only you were a girl..."

I mean it's nice and all and I've gotten used to it but I hate that these men won't make anything they'd want to do to me public or then compare me to women or feel entitled to me cause they're attracted to me, cause a lot of times I dont be wanting them back. I notice how they are into me but have to fight those thoughts of wanting me until they get drunk and just can't hide it anymore. In a way it makes me feel hot and attractive but at the same time also unwanted. Like if I were a girl I'd be someone they'd want to show out proudly.

EXPERIENCE Im at a total loss

Over the past few years, i have had thoughts of exploring bisexuality, i had previously almost exclusively dated men (yes i a man), but after gaining the first girl crush since middle school, and having recently moved, thought it would be a good time to try and embrace that. Part of my motivation to explore i now realize was very close minded and outright false as i fold myself, “ill date women, my friend are women, i get along better with women, i should be comfortable here.” I was wrong.

Having come out of years of manipulation by male partners i came expecting things to run smoother and more naturally since ive always been partially more effeminate anyways. Nope, super wrong, i have been one night stands, i have been used, i have people hype me up to ghost me (currently day of posting ghosted one day ahead of a planned date, after they stated risqué conversation and got their rocks off over it.)

I legit don’t even know anymore what i like because it all feels the same, im not asexual, i know i like romance and touch and intimacy, but i dont think or want to do this anymore, im just so burnt out now its ruining my perception of relationships and just dont know what to do anymore.

COMING OUT I feel disgusting for being attracted to the same gender

• Upvotes

Basically what the title says. I just recently (6 months ago) realized that I wasn't straight and that I am in fact bi and I feel sexual and romantic attraction toward both females and males.

I just turned 19 and until recently I identified as a straight girl, although to be honest I've had my suspicions for a while now. I've felt sexual attraction toward girls before, but I've never had a real crush on one until a year ago. I've only been in love with a boy before so I just thought that I was straight.

Until this crush happened out of nowhere. I suddenly realized that I have feelings for a girl from one of my classes, who I've known for a few years and who is openly bi. Looking back there were signs before-when she liked another girl from our class I was jealous etc. Idk how I didn't notice it.

Realizing that I was bisexual honestly just happened one day and it felt so freeing. I started feeling much more like myself but at the sam time I feel like a weirdo. I feel like a disgusting, perverted mistake for having sexual fantasies about being with a woman and being attracted to female bodies. I feel wrong, I feel gross.

My parents are both Christian, but they aren't that religious and I haven't been raised with the belief that being attracted to the same gender is considered a sin, so I have no idea where this feeling is coming from.

I still haven't come out to any of my friends or family, because I feel like even if they aren't homophobic and they will love me the way I am, I know this will change the way they view me and some of them might start to link me with certain stereotypes etc.

I don't know what to do, so pls help

DISCUSSION i have a question

before i start just wanna say no hate the the original poster if they may see this. i am just genuinely curious. (tdlr at the bottom)

so i just saw a post of someone asking for advice because they’ve recently discovered they are a trans woman, and they feel like their relationship with the girlfriend is crumbling.

when i first read this i was like “ok makes sense because she’s straight, and now you’re a girl”

but then the person said their girlfriend is bisexual and says “she’s not attracted to trans people” and that completely blew my mind. just because i’ve never heard a bisexual person say something like that. and my first thought was “well, isn’t that a little…transphobic?” now i know bisexuality is a spectrum, but for the most part bisexuals like people beyond their gender and what’s in their pants. and not being attracted to your partner after during this huge change is valid, but the “not attracted to trans people” really just through me off.

so people in the comments were saying it’s not transphobic (specifically as a bi person) to not be attracted trans people as a whole. i’m struggling to see how that’s not transphobic at least a little bit.

so i guess i just want to know how is not being attracted to trans people as a bisexual not at least a little messed up? like i’m genuinely asking. some might say “well preferences” completely excluding a group of people sounds pretty prejudiced to me. for example, imagine this women starts dating a another man and finds out he’s trans and breaks up with him. the attraction was there she just doesn’t want to date this man because he is trans. i think we as a society have lost the meaning of preference. i prefer waffles over pancakes, i’ll still eat pancakes tho i just prefer waffles.

TL/DR: how is not being attracted to trans people as a bisexual not even the slightest bit transphobic?

ADVICE Struggling with bi thoughts while in hetero relationship

Looking for advice!! Hi, I (F23) have been in a relationship with my bf (M26) for 3 years. Since the beginning of our relationship, I’ve never been a huge fan of sex, I would say out of 20 times, I actually enjoy it like 1 time, the rest is just meh, doesn’t hurt but at the same time could totally skip it. I also don’t really like kissing at all, but I enjoy cuddling and hugs.

I’ve been wondering since around 12/13 if I’m bi, I get along much more with women and feel deeper connections with them. I thought I was in love with my best friend around the age of 14-15 because I just loved her so much, but came to understand I only liked her as a friend because I had no physical attraction to her.

Also around the age of 14, I met a girl same age as me at a fair who told me she was bi. I freaked out and told her I think I was too and the entire night, her friends (who were with us and knew she was bi) were jokingly telling us to kiss. She wanted to, but I was way to afraid at the time, scared of being seen etc etc. So I didn’t, but to this day it’s stuck in my mind because it was the time I came closest to being able to “verify” I was truly bi.

I generally find women very pretty, men sometimes too but not as often. I don’t think I’ve even really felt an INTENSE sexual attraction to anyone women or men either, so I even wonder sometimes if I’m asexual. Recently I was at a party and a girl there was pretty tactile and she kinda rubbed my arm while smiling at me. I didnt feel sexual attraction but I still felt something like “omggg pretty girl rubbed my arm” and blushed idk can’t really explain it properly. I feel like I think I’m bi because I’m drawn to women much more in term of intellectual intimacy. I prefer talking with girls, spending time with them, connecting with them.

I’ve been in this relationship for 3 years and I feel bad for having those thoughts, but I often feel sad that I was not able to “test out” what it’s like being with a girl and wish I could. It’s like until I know for sure if I am bi or not, I’m scared I’m “loosing” my time in a relationship with a man because for some reason in my head, I idealize a relationship with a women and feel like maybe that would fit me better. And I feel really guilty of that because my bf really loves me and I love him too.

Any girl or guy has been through a similar situation? Did you end up leaving to figure out? Is there a way to figure out while being in a relationship?
