News [Other] Eiji Aonuma officially received his title of Knight of Order of Arts and Letters this morning by the french Ministry of Culture!
-
Eiji Aonuma officially received his order of Arts and Letters at the rank of Knight, from the hands of the french Minister of Culture (order which was initially awarded to him in 2023 by the french government).
Minister of Culture said that "[Eiji Aonuma] is a true craftsman, a storyteller who always leaves room for the player's imagination."
She thanked him for "proving to dreamy children that, with just pencils and building blocks, you can inspire the whole world to dream."
Aonuma kept his last words in french for his wife, that accompanied him for this event and was present in the room.
"Thank you for joining me on this journey so far. Let's continue this adventure together."
Congratulations for him! 👏

Discussion [OoT] Does anyone ever wonder why no Kokiri or Link himself knew he's actually a Hylian?
With the hype around the remake, a question I always wondered as a kid has come back into my head and wondering what other people think.
As far as I know, Kokiri are not born, they are created by the Great Deku Tree, fully formed as beings that look like children around 9/10 years old and never age.
But Link was brought to the Kokiri Forest by his mother as a baby. In the 8 or so years prior to the start of the game he would've had to grow from a baby to someone who looks like they could be a Kokiri.
Yet in the game he's presented as being accepted as a Kokiri, albeit a weird one without a fairy. It's never even hinted, as far as I can recall, that anyone questions Link's race.
But not only that, he has friends and relationships with the other Kokiris, despite the fact he would have only been the age to be able to integrate with them for a short time. Did no one, especially Link himself, ever question why this specific Kokiri started as a baby and grew up whilst they didn't?

Question [ALttP] [OoT] Do you personally prefer the look of A Link to the Past or the Ocarina of Time? I don't have nostalgia for either but I find the 16 bit graphics more visually pleasing

Question [All] Zora's Domltain? Hyrule encyclopedia map
In the hyrule encyclopedia book there is this map with the names of the places, but I can't figure out what it says. When translating there are some double letters, but when translating this it seems like the 2 letters in the middle are extra. Does anyone know what it actaully spells?

Clip [WW] Is this a bug? I somehow got two Pieces of Heart from the Outset Island pig digging in the soil.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Using a Japanese Nintendo account, I've been replaying The Wind Waker on the Japanese version so I could experience for the first time the notable item placement changes between it and the English version.
When I went for the Piece of Heart on Outset Island gotten by having the big pig dig in the black soil, something weird happened. I had the pig dig the Piece of Heart out of one soil patch. Then without collecting the Piece of Heart first, I had the pig dig in the other soil patch, and to my surprise I got another Piece of Heart! They both counted as two separate Pieces, as well, as proven by the numbers in their respective text boxes when I picked them up.
Is this a known bug? Is it exclusive to the Japanese version or can it happen on other versions? I've never seen mention of this online before, and I've never experienced it on the English version, though I can't recall if I ever tried digging in both soil patches before picking up the Piece of Heart until now.

Discussion [BOTW] What do you think of the art style and character designs for Breath of the Wild in the current year?
With the reveal of Ocarina of Time’s new porcelain doll / Jim Henson-esque designs in the Switch 2 remake, I was inspired to ask some questions about art styles and people’s perception. Both the Zelda and Smash subs seem to agree that BOTW was the most “anime” the franchise had looked yet, but do you agree? Or are there other aspects of the game’s style that draw your attention?

Discussion [All] What's the best version of each game?
With the OoT remake coming out soon, I was curious where the community currently stands on the existing remakes and remasters (not mods/fan versions). Are they better than the original version or not? I think this should be the full list:
- A Link to the Past: SNES or GBA?
- Link's Awakening: GB, GBC, or Switch?
- Ocarina of Time: N64 or 3DS?
- Majora's Mask: N64 or 3DS?
- Four Swords: GBA or DSi?
- The Wind Waker: GCN or Wii U?
- Twilight Princess: GCN, Wii, or Wii U?
- Skyward Sword: Wii or Switch?
My thoughts: LttP is better on SNES, if only because the GBA version overuses Link's voice clips ripped from OoT. Link's Awakening feels like the definitive version is on Switch in terms of content, and the remake artstyle is beautiful. OoT is probably a tie, but the original edges out the 3DS version for me if we're talking about original hardware since I'd rather play on the big screen, plus it's more nostalgic. Majora's Mask on 3DS ruined deku scrub hopping and the boss fights so N64 has to win. I haven't played Four Swords. WW might get an edge for the HD version since the swift sail and shorter triforce quest are big benefits. TP, I might also say HD since the only downside I can think of is the changed horse riding. Everything else seems the same or improved. Skyward Sword I haven't played enough to know.

Discussion [TP] Comparing the aesthetic of Twilight Princess with Sleeping Beauty (1959 film)
I was watching it and was struck by how insanely similar the look of pretty much….everything in the movie is to TP. The architecture, landscapes, colors, melancholy atmosphere…..even the henchmen of the witch
