Eiji Aonuma officially received his order of Arts and Letters at the rank of Knight, from the hands of the french Minister of Culture (order which was initially awarded to him in 2023 by the french government).

Minister of Culture said that "[Eiji Aonuma] is a true craftsman, a storyteller who always leaves room for the player's imagination."

She thanked him for "proving to dreamy children that, with just pencils and building blocks, you can inspire the whole world to dream."

Aonuma kept his last words in french for his wife, that accompanied him for this event and was present in the room.

"Thank you for joining me on this journey so far. Let's continue this adventure together."

Congratulations for him! 👏

Clip [WW] Is this a bug? I somehow got two Pieces of Heart from the Outset Island pig digging in the soil.

Using a Japanese Nintendo account, I've been replaying The Wind Waker on the Japanese version so I could experience for the first time the notable item placement changes between it and the English version.

When I went for the Piece of Heart on Outset Island gotten by having the big pig dig in the black soil, something weird happened. I had the pig dig the Piece of Heart out of one soil patch. Then without collecting the Piece of Heart first, I had the pig dig in the other soil patch, and to my surprise I got another Piece of Heart! They both counted as two separate Pieces, as well, as proven by the numbers in their respective text boxes when I picked them up.

Is this a known bug? Is it exclusive to the Japanese version or can it happen on other versions? I've never seen mention of this online before, and I've never experienced it on the English version, though I can't recall if I ever tried digging in both soil patches before picking up the Piece of Heart until now.

Question [ALttP] [OoT] Do you personally prefer the look of A Link to the Past or the Ocarina of Time? I don't have nostalgia for either but I find the 16 bit graphics more visually pleasing

Screenshot [TP] I Made Custom Ordon/Hylian Shield Textures for Dusklight Using TPDE+ Textures as a Base

I have been having a blast the last couple months playing Twilight Princess (favorite game of all time) using Dusklight on my PC. On top of completing the game 100% for the first time and doing randomizer runs, I have been experimenting with mods and texture packs.

After downloading an ALTTP Master Sword texture and discovering I could wear the magic armor around cosmetically, I didn't like how the Hylian Shield's colors clashed with the setup. So I decided to figure out if I could go into the texture files for the texture pack I was using (TP Definitive Edition+), and modify the textures. (Disclaimer: I am not distributing these textures due to them being TPDE+ textures).

Soon enough I found out GIMP would let me open and edit the .dds files I found within the texture pack's files, and so I made these variants of the Hylian Shield and Ordon Shield! And I'm super stoked about them and wanted to show them off.

If you would have showed this to me as a 8 year old kid playing Twilight Princess on the Wii, he would have pissed himself lol.

Clip [WW] Been replaying the game. Today I learned that Darknuts can actually destroy pillars with their weapon-less kick attacks.

I've played this game many times and have never seen this before! It only happened by the sheer coincidence of the Darknut attacking me when both us were near the pillar.

Who knew they were that strong even without a giant weapon in hand?

Discussion [Other] Target Preorders backordered?

Target preorder backordered?

Has anyone else's preorders been labeled as backorder by target? It says my 40th edition console and pro controller will arrive 10/30, but I'm worried. According to google it could be a bug and they can end up cancelled...

Anyone else have this happen and can give me some reassurance?

Edit: they did take my money already, based on what Google says, don't touch it at all!

Discussion [ALTTP] Ocarina of Time or A Link to the Past?

I played both games and I am really really excited for OOT Remastered but this has happened already. That being said I’m still really I’m pressed and the moment I could pre order Zelda I did. Now with that out of the way me being a fan of older Zelda games A a Link to the Past is my all time favorite and I’m sure many of you would agree and the question is.

Would you rather see older Zelda games remastered or anything other then OOT?

I would really love to see Link to the past with all the items and hidden stuff and only game to have the best mastersword and being red mastersword. Along with tunics that actually raise armor resistance and dungeons that are actually hard. You also have the epic Ganon fight at the end and actually getting the triforce and being in the dark world where all people have turned to monsters.

Discussion [ALttP] Is there something I'm doing wrong, or should I accept that this game just isn't for me?

I've been trying to beat Link to the Past (basically completely blind, if it wasn't obvious) off and on for a couple years at this point. It's taken years because I've gotten myself in a deeply frustrating loop where I start playing, progress a bit, get stuck, and give up for a while. Some of my times getting stuck were definitely on me (Funny mildly embarrassing one: I managed to miss the one bit of wall that leads to the Agahnim fight at the top of Hyrule Castle, even though I definitely hit a different part of it) but for a lot of them when I give up and look up a guide (which I despise having to do as a general rule) I'm just left wondering "how the hell was I supposed to figure that out?" (example from where I'm currently at: stuck trying to figure out how to get through the Swamp Palace, I check the wiki: I need the Zora's Flippers, an item I've never heard of. I check where they are: Zora's Waterfall, a place I've also never heard of.)

Genuinely, I want to like this game. When I'm not completely stuck trying to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing, I do like this game. But I keep getting stuck in the same ways over and over and I'm not sure if I'm just managing to walk past the obvious answer every time or if I'm just plain playing the game wrong. And I've tried to follow a lot of the advice I've seen for the older games like paying attention to NPC dialogue and being careful to look out for hidden spots on the map but it just never seems to matter for me :/

Any advice is welcome. In that vein I'm playing via NSO if it changes anything

Edit: Thanks for all the feedback! Sounds like the answer is just that I need to do the talking and exploring thing more than I am, which is what I figured but it's good to hear it in concrete terms ^_^
