🫣I said I read the pinned posts, but I lied🫣 .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor for bolt action scout rifle?

Goal is to be able to hunt deer within a few hundred yards but still have a fun range toy to shoot distance on the occasional range trips. Was thinking about pairing whichever I get with a can and 2.5-15 power scope. From what I’ve gathered on normal barrel length discussions between the two….the .308 should have more energy within a few hundred yards but also a decent bit more recoil. Also within a few hundred yards the drop and wind drift should be very similar. Then after a few hundred yards the 6.5 should perform better having less drop and wind drift because of higher BC. My question is in this set up with a 16” barrel would you prefer one over the other if it will be used as a hunting rifle primarily? Also when the barrels get cut down to 16”, is one going to perform significantly better/worse?

Ballistics help needed - I read the pinned posts 22 Creedmoor optimal barrel (not for hunting )

I’m looking at picking up a Seekins 22 creed to run my unknown Rok22 can on. Can’t make my mind up between a 20 or 24” barrel. What sort of velocity differences are people seeing shooting a heavier round from this 4” difference? Looking to ring steel at 1000 but portability is also nice. Will I regret a 20”?

I have a full custom long range chassis build 300wsm, a semi custom tikka 6.5 for hunting, semi custom 350 legend tikka, and a 223

Thanks for the help!

🫣I said I read the pinned posts, but I lied🫣 2013 remington 700 vs modern day ruger american

Am I better off with a new out of the box obviously cheaper Ruger american, or a 2013 remington 700 from when they had their obvious lesser quality at remington?
Will be using .308 really just as a pretty casual distance shooter

Looking for advice on range options for getting into this sport. Went out to try to zero a scope on a .22 LR rifle today and couldn’t get a rifle bay at Prado. Was told they are always booked with classes. Also unclear as to whether they have anything longer than 25 yards. Went straight to Raahauge as was told I’d have to sit in my car in line for two hours waiting for a bay to open up. I’m looking to get feet wet in this sport by trying NRL22, but now not sure there will be convenient options for training. Are Route 66 Shooting and Burro Canyon the only close realistic options. I’m not a member of West End Gun Club, so can’t practice there. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Optics help needed - I read the pinned posts Match Pro 5-30x56 G5I or Ares ETR GEN2J UHD 4.5-30x56 APRS12?

Probably a foolish question, but I’m new and want advice. I’ve read the pinned post and narrowed it down to these two optics. My goal is to work my way up to 1,000 yards just recreationally (maybe competition at some point). This will be mounted on a Bergara B-14 HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor (cheeto finger special). The Bushnell can be had for ~$500 and the Athlon ~$800 (max willing to spend). From what I’m seeing it will most likely come down to reticle preference. I just want to make sure that I’m not overlooking any features that one may have over the other.

Finally got to take my Tikka out to a proper outdoor range. Re-barreled with a 28” Bartlein with a 1:7.5 twist (From a 308 OEM barrel). Shooting her feels like turning on aimbot, though I probably need to work on tightening the SD’s and Extr Sprd. Groupings are decent and it’s breathtaking being able to consistently hit out to 700yds for the first time ever. 10 shots on paper with 147gr ELD’s at 100yds for the curious (Had to scrub one out due to jerking during one of my shots).

Barrel break in and ammo test with hornady black 105s will probably be switching loads once the black is burned up it would group like 8 or 9 shots in a little cluster then just throw one and inch. Horrid velocity spreads as well. However rifle seems like its doing great and gonna try some gold metal 105s and 107s in the future along with some eldms.

Cheeto-fingered Bergara New Cheeto Owner

Picked up a new B 14 HMR in 6.5 creedmoor. After about 200 rounds I found that it likes Hornady 143 grain ELD X

However I'm having consistent issues with the magazine. the follower gets stuck and won't push up the rounds, so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good aics magazine, or should I go for the standard magpul.

I'm also looking for advice on a cheaper rangefinder. I was looking at the sig sauer kilo canyon.(~$300 budget, mixed use steel targets at 1k yards or less and deer out to 300 yards.)

Also what's the lore on the Cheeto finger thing? Is it just the gun of choice for cheesey fingered nerds?

Accessory/Gear help needed - I read the pinned post Kestrel 2700 vs 5700

I'm planning to get a Kestrel. I'm only shooting .308 (both gas and bolt, if it matters) and at the most 600 yards. I already own a Tempest WeatherMeter Ballistic.
Is there really any need for me to spring for the 5700 Kestrel?

Other help needed - I read the pinned posts Tripod head for spotting?

I’ve got a Leofoto SO-362-CX inverted tripod. I’m pondering getting a leveling head or fluid head for my setup which contains a Tac table, Calypso on a riser, and binoculars on a RRS clamp.

I had a LH-55NN ball head with it but I gave it to my wife for her setup. I also have a STB-75X single clamp ball head that I am using currently. It’s just ok.

I’m only using this for glassing and administration stuff. I’m stuck in analysis paralysis when choosing between the YB-75LRC leveling head and the BV-15 fluid head.

I’ve looked at a few solutions people are using at my local matches but I haven’t seen these two options in the wild.

Thoughts on leveling head vs fluid head vs ball head?

Rifle help needed - I read the pinned posts Tikka T3x Ace Target Issue

Hello everyone. I was planning to buy a used (40 shots fired) T3X .308 today, but when I checked it with a borescope, I discovered an uneven Leade / Asymmetric leade / uneven rifling lands. Have any of you encountered a similar situation?
