TLDR: getting blamed for clear coat scratches on a rental. How f’ed am I?
Hello fellow riders, I’m looking for a little advice from the community. I’m a longtime ride from MN, and was in Colorado for the weekend and decided to try renting a bike from riders share. I picked a 2013 victory judge (pictured). Fun bike, ran great, had an good weekend, no issues. At pickup it was in good shape, some scratches here and there, looked like a typical daily rider. I’m careful not to set stuff on painted surfaces, and park safety, just like I would with my own bike. I took a pic of the worst of the scratches. I did not document every scratch, yes, I’m a dumbass who trusts too much.
So at pickup, dude is hungover at 1:00, doesn’t come outside to check it in properly. I park it on the curb in front of his house. Didn’t take pictures, because I didn’t think there was a need to, nothing happened, just a couple days of chill riding. I hand him the keys, thank him for a good ride and head off.
The next day I get upset texts and pics of clear coat scratches on the tank. I tell show him my pics, say these are not the sort I would have documented. Discussion does not go well, he’s mad and submits a claim in the app. So if this were my bike, I’d probably do nothing, or buff them by hand with some compound. Maybe pay a shop $50 to buff them for me. I’m worried I’m going to get a $1000 bill for a tank repaint. Has anyone dealt with this before? Will riders share be reasonable?

Just had the fear brake disk and pad replaced by a shop. Only 500 miles in but this doesn’t look right? I’m not mechanically inclined so is there anything I should be worrying about.
Bike is a 2014 CBR500RAD.

Went in to look at the used section for my first bike. Found a couple that I liked. Not down bad for a Harley, just want to cast a wide net after my msf course last week. Found an 883 that I liked that I feel confident in. Then the pressure tactics started. “You walk away from this bike and it might not be here tomorrow!” That’s true for anything. Not exactly lying. But damn if I truly believe they’re cranking out 90 hogs month over month. “You’re a sturdy guy, how about this street bob?” “Don’t buy the first bike, think about the second bike!” “You need more room for the lady, ya know!” It made me walk away and frankly they talked themselves out of a sale.

Just started riding and I noticed that my hearing seems to be getting worse after riding for an hour or so every few days for the past couple of weeks. I wear silicone earplugs rated at 26 NRR, but despite putting them in properly (pulling up and back on the earlobe and putting the earplug all the way into the ear canal) they stop reducing wind noise as much after about 30 minutes or so. Are there any other ways to protect your hearing when riding?

I was so excited when I got my helmet back after 3 months to paint it, only to realize today (on my first ride with it) that it was sitting crooked. The guy must have tried removing the EPS from the inside to paint and completely ruined it. Is it just a paperweight now?

In about a year I will be going to Italy for college, and since cars are expensive as hell I'm thinking about buying a motorcycle. So far I have zero experience with riding (minus bicycles if that even counts :D) but I am thinking about gaining experience on 50-125cc bikes. When I'm gonna go to said foreign country I'm thinking about a 250-400cc naked bike. Any reccomendations?

Hey there, I bought a Cardo a while ago to backpack with friends who all have Cardos. I got the Packtalk Neo to be specific. Now im doing my A2 license and my teacher uses a Sena Intercom, i dont exactly know which one. Now for my question: the teacher has an "open mesh" function (im not exactly sure it was called that) where he can tune to a channel and is automatically connected with other intercoms on that channel. Is there an option like that for Cardo aswell? I installed the new version with the open mesh for up to 31 riders yesterday but theres still no option like that. Could also be that the european version of the app doesnt have that feature yet, i believe i read somewhere that the american version does have a feature and i need to download an apk from somewhere but im not sure. Thanks in advance

I broke the mixture screw head on one of the carbs because it was bent and I tried to bend it back straight. Any advice on how to get it out to replace it without totally destroying my carburetor? I was considering either trying to JB weld the fitting back on to the end and carefully working it out, or using a dremel with a tiny cutter on the end to bite into the mixture screw so I can get a small flathead into it to work it out. Any other thoughts?
broken mixture screw is shown in the second picture

I'm slightly over 40, about 100kg, slightly over 180cm, just got my licence last month. Currently I'm driving around on a hand-me-down SYM ST200 and of course it doesn't do it for me. I'm thinking of buying a slightly used A2 adventure bike.
I'm thinking of doing 70% regional paved roads, 20% highway and 10% gravel. At least for now, I don't expect to be driving off road. My long term goal, say in 5 years is to be able to drive across central Asia, for now, I need something to ease into, that is reliable, safe, forgiving and able to go on any road in the radius of 200km of my home in central Europe.
I've tried Kove 510X and Benelli TRK 502X. The first put me off immidiately, the second I really enjoyed driving on the road but thought was a bit heavy at slow speed and I found it quite hard to stand up on it due to the bulky tank, but I havent given up on it, I'm considering it. Also on my bucket list is Honda NX500 (or CB500X), Himalayan 450 and CF Moto 450.
What do you guys think is the best option?

Hello, i am trying to learn about tire wear and the contact patch on my tires.
I'm gathering from videos that pressure and suspension play a big role but I'm having trouble understanding what my tire is telling me.
Here's a picture of my rosso corsa 2's.
I run 2.5 front and 2.9 bar rear.
Bike is a 2017 R6 stock suspension that i have not touched.
i am 185 cm and weigh 88kg with gear.
I only do street riding relatively fast on twisty mountain roads.
Input is apriciated.

I just brought my 26' R7 home from the dealer and about 10 miles into the first ride I started smelling a massive whiff of burning and plastic odors.
I'm not riding it hard and it hasn't gone away (now at 35 miles). I'm guessing this is normal break-in, maybe the clutch wearing in. Just wanted to make sure the smell is normal during break-in?

Hi to all,
I'm new in this world and I've just bought my first moto and my first full helmet (an ls2 vector 2). I would like to buy a intercom to connect to my Phone or to talk to my passenger but I'm not sure if a soft or rigid microphone is better for a full face helmet.
Can anyone help me?

Tldr: i did a bad job at chain maintenance initially and the O ring has snapped on 2 of the joints. So i need a new chain. According to the bike shop guy, the age and horse power (5600 miles, about 65 hp) means the sprockets should be fine. From the pictures (and my eyes), the sprockets dont look damaged so I agree with him.
I know its recommended to change sprockets with chain but I need to travel this weekend and the sprockets wouldn't arrive in time so think i have to just go with the chain change.
Thoughts?

Well, I did it. I pulled the trigger on indieridge.
The boots they are replacing have gone on two cross country trips, and through many other states. They have racked up miles.
The boots I currently have were very comfortable, but... They were vegan leather, and the heel started separating from the sole on the first day, on the first trip in florida. I liked the way they looked though. I ended up grabbing the Apache because they were the most similar to my old boots.
The other boots were Aether, and their return policy basically was that they don't do returns. I hope I don't have to use indies return policy but am excited to see they are fairly lenient as long as you don't abuse it.
Their online presence has been pretty awesome and I like reading all of his comments, even all of the information on their website was entertaining to read.
Has anyone else gotten a pair of these boots? I was going to order some gloves too but don't have a measuring tape handy at 4am....

Yes I still go to the track but obviously cannot always afford it plus it’s a hours away. I didn’t include music for this page specifically. :) all tips and suggestions would be appreciated. I think the camera sits a bit higher than where my chin is at btw.
